Phethean is a painter based in West Cornwal.

However her family live in mid Wales and she

spends much of her time in Laugharne.


Her painting practise as a muralist was a feature of

her work as an architectural designer and led to an

international career which began in the Lebanon.


Large scale projects included International Airport Lounges

for Virgin Atlantic, and refurbishment of The Kensington Roof Gardens in London.


Later her career diversified to include event design and installation. Her clients include Coca Cola, Lilt and the Notting Hill Carnival Trust.


She has had many installations exhibited including the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Eden Project Cornwall and the Natural History Museum, London.


Phethean moved to Cornwall in 2003 in order to paint full time.

She is a member of the St Ives Society of Artists and the Association of British Naïve Artists.


Artist Statement:


' Phethean's paintings reflect a sense of the sublime. As an alchemist strives for gold Phethean strives to express the intangible, trusting her emotional instincts her work is both aesthetically beautiful and intensely courageous'.
